STAR - DID YOU FILE FOR YOUR TAX DISCOUNT?

If you purchased a home this year in Nassau County NY, or will do so by the end of the year, don’t forget to apply for STAR. STAR provides a discount on the school portion of your property taxes if it is your primary home. Everyone is entitled to basic STAR but there is an additional discount for veterans, senior citizens, those with disability/limited income, volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers. The deadline for filing is January 2^nd, 2012....don’t miss the boat. If you have already filed, you only need to do so once for basic STAR.
